What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word pronounced ‘Ray-Key’. ‘Rei’ is defined as Universal life: a spiritual consciousness. ‘Ki’ is defined as energy or life force flowing through all things that are living. Reiki then can be defined as “Spiritually-Guided Life Force Energy.” Reiki is a simple, natural healing method transmitted by the attuned practitioner placing hands on an individual, animal or other living thing. Reiki is an energy that enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself while experiencing relaxation, rejuvenation and a “connection”.

What is Reiki used for?

Reiki can be used for all purposes, conditions and situations at any time, in any place and for anything. It is used by people of different religions, philosophies and ages and is for everyone.

Reiki restores balance to the body through the chakra system, our body’s physical system of energy. Chakras are crucial centers of energy that regulate physical, emotional, spiritual and soul wellness.

Reiki works in harmony with conventional medicine either physical or psychological. It is known to improve the results of any medical treatment, acting to reduce negative side effects such as those from chemotherapy, surgery and invasive procedures. It shortens healing time, reduces or eliminates pain, reduces stress and helps create optimism. Because of these positive results, many hospitals and health care facilities are adding Reiki as a complementary therapy.

What is a session like?

A person receiving a Reiki treatment simply sits in a chair or lies, fully clothed on a massage/Reiki table. A session is traditionally an hour with the client deeply relaxing, and often feeling love, warmth and rejuvenation. Soft music, aromatherapy and crystals may o be used if the client chooses.

How do I know if I need a Reiki treatment?

Do you sometimes wonder if there is more? Do you sometimes feel like you need more? Reiki is the more many of us are seeking.

If you are not feeling like “yourself” in physical, spiritual or emotional energies, Reiki may help.

Life, as we know it today, holds enormous energetic, political and psychosocial stressors. Reiki helps to balance the energy around us and in the world. It helps us to focus our life by ideals such as:

1. Just for today, I will not worry.
2. Just for today, I will not anger.
3. Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
4. Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
5. Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.

Can I learn to practice Reiki?

Absolutely!! Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can learn and use. The ability to channel Reiki is passed on during an “attunement” given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy”. It is not dependent on intellectual ability or spiritual development and therefore is present for everyone.

Reiki is taught in different levels: I, II, Advanced Reiki Training, III/Master and Karuna®. Each level receives specific energy attunements and practice techniques.

Level I: First Degree Reiki focuses on the history and basic teaching of Reiki. You will learn the principles of Reiki and the hand positions to treat yourself and others. You will be attuned to the Reiki Universal Life Force Energy and become acquainted with the Chakra system. This training is one full day.

Level II: Second Degree Reiki teaches the Reiki Symbols that strengthen the flow of Reiki energy and enables you to channel Reiki energy for distance healing. You will also learn important tips for establishing your own Reiki practice. Healing and practice work with others emphasized. You will receive the Usui Reiki II attunement and a certificate of completion. This training is one full day.

ART: Advanced Reiki Training is the third level of Reiki. You will learn the master symbol and advanced treatment techniques including chakra clearing and balancing, working with stones and crystals and creating and working with a Reiki crystal grid, earth healing and more. This class will offer you the opportunity to take your healing to a higher level. You will receive the Usui Reiki Advanced Practitioner attunement and a certificate of completion. This training is one full day.

III/Master Level: This class teaches complete instructions on giving all attunements. You will learn the healing attunement, which heals and strengthens the effectiveness of Reiki treatments, two Tibetan symbols, Advanced Reiki Meditation for harmonizing the energy of the chakras and receive the complete Reiki III Usui/Tibetan Master attunement with a certificate of completion. This is an intensive two day training.

Karuna® Reiki Master: You must have been a Reiki Master for at least one year to take this training. Karuna is a three-day intensive developed by the International Center for Reiki Training. In this class you will learn four Karuna level one symbols, four level two symbols and four master symbols along with two attunements. You will learn new meditations for self-healing and removing blocks as well as instruction and practice in giving attunements for Karuna Reiki Practitioner and Master levels. Lots of practice time takes place in class giving treatments using all the symbols along with practicing the attunements so the student leaves class confident in their ability. A certificate of completion is acknowledged by the International Center for Reiki Training.
